Impact of the Growth Mindset

For this assignment, I decided to make a scrapbook inspired video using iMovie and a Keynote presentation. Originally I was going to do a plain me talking into a camera on a white wall video, but I wasn’t in the mood to see myself on screen plus I really got into looking for old pictures to go along with my story. In a way, it all worked out because looking through my classroom memories was motivating for me and framed my mindset.

I quite enjoyed the video and self-reflection process as I thought of how a growth mindset will impact my success in the DLL program. In addition to the video, I made a Keynote that can be used when need arises to give a more formal presentation for campus PD or a classroom lesson. 

Below are two slides from the keynote containing structured plans for teachers and leaders to follow as they shift campus mindsets from fixed to growth. The Keynote slides as a standalone resource is also posted below along with links to additional resources I have successfully utilized in my own classroom over the years.

I currently teach Art 1 and Digital Communications for the 21st Century at IDEA College Preparatory North Mission. This is my 9th year teaching with a free public charter network and I have worked with grades 6-12.  Before teaching, I worked as a graphic designer and museum educator.

I am the proud/busy mother of 3 sons and a graduate student in the Digital Leading and Learning program at Lamar University.
